The Hong Kong public got to understand that it is only through hard work and open or distant learning that enabled tens of thousands every year who otherwise could not afford the time or money to do a face to face degree to earn that qualification. I took over the Chairmanship and had the distinct honour of seeing the Open Learning Institute becoming a self-accrediting tertiary institution under the name of Open University of Hong Kong. I also saw the move from above the Mongkok MTR station to Good Shepherd Street in Ho Man Tin. The OU is now playing a vital role as a comprehensive and fully-fledged university in furnishing Hong Kong with the appropriate skills in an ever more […]

On behalf of Lingnan University, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) on its 30th Anniversary. Lingnan University is pleased to be a part of the celebration on this joyous occasion. Over the past three decades, OUHK has successfully positioned itself as a dynamic and thriving institution that provides quality higher education for people in Hong Kong. In recent years, OUHK has made great strides in its development, demonstrated by a significant growth of student enrolment, a rich diversity of professional programmes tailored to industry needs and an increasing support from the government and society at large. I look forward to a closer relationship between OUHK and Lingnan, and am confident that, under the strong leadership of Prof Wong Yuk-Shan, OUHK will continue to excel in the years to come.
